We've arrived at A's parents in Lancaster, where we are ensconced until at least the New Year. (Assuming you can be ensconced in December without any snow.) The drive down was somewhat slippery but quiet: Isaiah, apparently underwhelmed by his first time in NY, NJ and PA, slept almost the whole time. Almost: He sucked several inches off A's index finger after he began wailing in the congestion before the Tappan Zee Bridge. Unfortunately, unlike Tootsie Roll Pops, A's fingers do not have a hard candy center.
Also, a helpful parenting tip: If you've stopped to nurse at a truck stop and decide to drive the 50 feet from the parking lot to the pumps while the child's breastfeeding, don't do it in a full-service-only state like NJ. Pretending that the baby's a cat in front of the attendant is awkward.
By the end of the trip, Isaiah had managed to blow an impressive milk bubble mustache, which must be a developmental milestone.
