sunday outing

This weekend we finally went to check out the Yale hockey rink, a Saarinen design known as the Whale. It does look very whale-like from the outside, although inside it looks like a cross between a whale and a whaling ship: the undulating ceiling is made of old-looking and somehow very basic-looking lengths of wood.

The floor undulates also. Isaiah's gotten quite good at walking short distances while hanging on to a helpful hand or two, but we count the hockey rink floor as his first hill. Hockey practice seemed pretty interesting, as were the bleachers.
