summer eats

We've cooked, mushed, and frozen a colorful array of foods for Kidney Bean's delectation. Below you see iced cubes of carrot, sweet potato, apple sauce, green summer squash of some sort (from the Plainfield garden), and Japanese eggplant. The bag used to also contain pretty dark-green kale cubes, but it was pretty clear that Isaiah was not that interested in kale. In fact, he would stop eating and pretend not to be hungry whenever we tried to feed it to him, then ravenously gulp down large quantities of yogurt instead.

Today, however, Isaiah discovered, quite by chance, the pluot. The chance was that his mother decided to eat one while sitting on the couch with him. And innocently offered him a taste.

He couldn't get enough, and would get impatient every time A. took off some skin for him or -- horrors! -- took a bite for herself.
